OpenAI’s ChatGPT has received two new features that make it the advanced chatbot it aims to be. You can now video chat with ChatGPT, showing real life objects and asking questions based on them. The new screen sharing feature lets the AI chatbot see and analyse things on your screen so it can offer responses to your queries in real time.
Sounds good? Here’s everything you need to know about ChatGPT’s latest upgrade.
ChatGPT gets video chat and screen sharing features
OpenAI first announced ChatGPT’s ability to see things around you during the launch of GPT 4o. However, the feature dubbed ‘video chat’ was in the testing phase, and it’s now available to ChatGPT Plus and Pro users.
With the video chat feature, ChatGPT gains the ability to see and analyse things in your surroundings. This means you can show it a math problem, and it can analyse and help you solve it. Show it how you are struggling to make a cup of coffee, and it will help you make the right drip coffee from scratch.
It can also remember the faces you show to it, including yours and your friend’s, allowing it to indulge in communication just like humans. In addition to the video chat mode, ChatGPT Plus and Pro users can also share their screen with ChatGPT.
Screen sharing will let the AI chatbot see everything on the screen, allowing it to solve your queries in real time. For instance, you can screen share and ask ChatGPT to generate a reply for a text message. It can also help you solve scientific problems, just by showing the problem on the screen.

To access these features, all you need to do is open the ChatGPT app on Android or iPhone. Then, turn on ChatGPT’s voice mode, tap on the video icon to start a video chat or press three dots and select the screen sharing option to let the chatbot see your screen.
With these features, OpenAI has made ChatGPT more capable and a truly advanced AI tool, putting it inline with the competition like Google’s Project Astra. What do you think about ChatGPT’s latest upgrade? Do let us know in the comments below.
