OpenAI’s ChatGPT is taking the world by storm. Not too long ago, the company announced how the AI chatbot would be able to remember things based on ‘memory‘. But if that’s not all, a new feature has been added to ChatGPT’s portfolio, and it will soon be able to read your answers aloud to you. Here’s what you need to know about it.
ChatGPT Read Aloud feature: What's there to know?
OpenAI announced the addition of a Read Aloud feature on X (formerly Twitter) via a post. The company stated how the chatbot will soon be able to read its responses to users and has begun rolling it out for the web version as well.
Last year, OpenAI introduced a voice chat form of communication with ChatGPT, which allowed users to converse with the bot verbally. However, the new feature will simply read the generated answers out loud and enhance accessibility and convenience for those who only prefer auditory responses.

The feature is especially useful for those who have trouble reading and can also be an added functionality for those with visual impairments. If that’s not all, it will help users who use the chatbot while multitasking or are required to keep their hands free for other tasks.
How to use ChatGPT's Read Aloud feature
To begin using this feature, make sure your smartphone or web app is updated to the latest version. Once done, you can begin by asking the chatbot a question or sending it a prompt. On receiving the generated response, users can tap and hold for additional options.
At the bottom of the drop-down menu, you will be able to find the Read Aloud feature. This feature will read out the selected or the last message within the communication.
Users can also choose between five voice options to read the answers out aloud. These include Breeze, Sky, Cove, Ember and Juniper. You can opt for the preferred voice via the speech section found in the Settings of your ChatGPT app.
