OpenAI made several announcements in the last few days as part of its ‘ship-mas’ event, including ChatGPT’s ability to screen share and video chat. Now, it has made another announcement that makes ChatGPT easier to access for those who still haven’t made the effort to download the app or visit the website.
ChatGPT is now available on WhatsApp and via phone calls, ensuring that the AI tool is easily accessible to the general users.
Here’s how to chat with ChatGPT via WhatsApp, calls
ChatGPT can be accessed via WhatsApp for free globally. OpenAI revealed that ChatGPT’s official contact number for WhatsApp and calling is +1 (800) 242-8478. Follow the steps below to add this contact number to your phone’s contact list for chatting with ChatGPT on WhatsApp.
Step 1: Open the phone dialer or contacts app on your Android phone or iPhone.
Step 2: Just enter the following contact number +1 (800) 242-8478 and save it on your device with the name ChatGPT.
Step 3: Once saved, open WhatsApp and search for ChatGPT in the search bar.
Step 4: You should now see the ChatGPT contact in the search results, tap on it and you are good to go.
Step 5: Now, begin your conversation just as you’d do in the ChatGPT app or on the website.
That’s how you can easily chat with ChatGPT on WhatsApp. As mentioned above, ChatGPT on WhatsApp is free for everyone.
Other than this, users can also directly talk to ChatGPT via phone calls, however, this is limited to users in the US and Canada. Also, there’s 15-minute limit per phone number per month. To talk with ChatGPT on call, you have to make a call on the aforementioned contact number.

It’s great that OpenAI is allowing users to easily access its AI chatbot via WhatsApp and calls. With this, users don’t have to download or install a separate app to talk to the AI chatbot. But if you want to access the pro features of the AI chatbot, which includes screen sharing, video calling, and access to ChatGPT Search, you will have to rely on the dedicated app that can be downloaded from Play Store and App Store.
