Canva launches Dream Lab AI image generator, new Visual Suite features

As a part of its latest update, Canva just added Dream Lab AI, a powerful text-to-image generation tool, to its desktop and smartphone app. And if that’s not all, the design platform went on to introduce a host of new features that are built to enhance user experience across all their projects. Here’s how it will work:

Canva introduces Dream Lab and other new features for the platform

Dream Lab is built on Leonardo.AI’s Phoenix, a powerful generative AI model that can help users create high-quality images or graphics using text. The new tool can typically provide a Canva user with multiple variations of an image, with 15 unique styles, along with greater flexibility and creative liberty to modify them. This means whether you’re looking to create hyper-realistic portraits or 3D renders, the new tool can be a great companion on your artistic journey.

Apart from this, users will also be able to use an existing picture as a reference and use the tool for granular control wherever required. While this isn’t the first time Canva is deploying AI help on the platform, Dream Lab will be a powerful tool that gives users a lot more creative control within their projects.

Apart from having a context-aware AI model, the company states how Dream Lab is also ideal for users looking to create multiple levels of images and photo-realistic portraits. If that’s not all, users can also add a style reference of their choice to have more control over the final output.

Canva Visual Suite gets new features

Canva also introduced new features to its Visual Suite, a collection of built-in tools for various formats. These usually include documents, presentations and also short video clips. Apart from upgrading to new tools, the company has thrown in several new additions to this collection based on requests from its community.

For one, it now has an AI-powered whiteboard to help users summarise as well as sort their text. Along with this, users will also get interactive ‘Reaction Stickies’ that allow collaborators to vote on real-time ideas. Canva is also bringing in an upgrade to the Magic Write feature, which now refines text and is considerably more accurate with its outputs.

Video editors are in for a treat, as Canva has brought in new animation effects that come with auto-generated captions. The company also states that the captions can match your brand styles with only a few simple clicks. Another new feature for videos includes Custom Mockups, which can effectively turn photos into on-brand mockup templates for users with only one click.

Lastly, Canva has added in a new tool known as ‘Polls and Quizzes’. This addition allows users to come up with customised polls or quizzes within the editor. For better accessibility, Canva will also make it easier to access the Visual Suite by integrating it into Google Workspace, including Docs, Drive, Calendar and other services.

The features gradually start rolling out to Canva users; however, the company has not specified if they will only be limited to the premium tier. For more launches, details and information, make sure you remain subscribed to Unboxed by Croma.
