You’re tired of the poor quality of wireless earbud mics, or maybe your meetings run so long that your TWS batteries die partway through, or maybe you just don’t want to spend money on wireless audio. Whatever your reasoning, TWS or true wireless earbuds do have some distinct limitations, making wired earbuds an appealing choice for many.

Thankfully, wired earbuds with mic are still around, and the choices are more numerous than ever. Here are our top picks!
Best wired earphones with mics in 2024
1. Apple EarPods (USB-C)
2. JBL T310C (USB-C)
3. boAt BassHeads 228 Black (3.5 mm)
4. Sennheiser CX 300s 508593 (3.5 mm)
5. BOSE Freestyle 625946-0020 (3.5 mm)
1. Apple EarPods (USB-C)
Ever since Apple ditched the headphone jack, our only option has been either the Lightning or USB-C EarPods. Either set is available at Rs 1,799 – as with most things Apple, the price is a bit steep – but they do sound rather good compared to first gen AirPods. Their mics especially are good, and many people still swear by their EarPods mics.

If you’re an Apple user in search of a wired earbud set, picking up one of these is a no-brainer. Surprisingly, they’re a great option for Android users as well. Hint: USB-C EarPods will also work with any laptop and tablet that supports USB-C as they have a built-in DAC and amp.
2. JBL T310C (USB-C)
The JBL T310C are our go-to USB-C earbuds when we want something that offers both great value and excellent sound quality. Featuring JBL’s signature audio and build quality, this Rs 1,999 set offers remarkable value.
You get a 3-button remote with volume and track control, a tangle-free cable design, hi-res audio thanks to an integrated DAC – which also means it’s compatible with virtually any USB-C device available today, and even customisable equaliser options to tune the sound to your liking. It’s a great set at a great price and we can’t recommend it enough!
3. boAt BassHeads 228 Black (3.5 mm)
These cheap, sweatproof earbuds from boAt are amazing value. Featuring 10 mm drivers and a noise-isolating mic, they sound great, and also help you sound great during calls and meetings. The design is simple and functional and features a 3.5 mm jack for connectivity with most devices. Thanks to their in-ear design, the set also provides passive noise isolation that can help dull some of that distracting background noise while you work or relax to some music.
4. Sennheiser CX 300s 508593 (3.5 mm)
Sennheiser is a well-established name in the audio world, and with good reason. They make some of the best sounding headphones and mics around, and that includes wired earbuds with a mic. CX 300s uses finely tuned transducers to deliver excellent, detailed sound with enhanced bass.
The in-ear design of course helps passively cut background noise, while the ear adapters enhance listening comfort. The mic features a one-button design for intuitive access and control, and is well placed to capture audio. Sennheiser also used a tangle-free cable design, so knots and snags are something you don’t need to worry about when listening to music.
5. BOSE Freestyle 625946-0020 (3.5 mm)
If premium audio quality is more your jam, you just can’t go wrong with the Bose Freestyle earbud set. These wired earphones offer fantastic sound quality thanks to Bose’s unique TriPort technology delivering audio that is rich, deep, and clear. Treble and bass are both enhanced slightly for a more enjoyable listening experience.

The set is both weather and sweat resistant, and the ear clips are designed to stay firmly in your ears no matter the situation, making these ideal for jogging and working out. Bose also includes a clothing clip to prevent the cables from getting tangled up around you as you exercise. The Bose Freestyle connects to your devices via a 3.5 mm audio jack and costs Rs 8,550 on Croma.
When it comes to audio quality, both for playback and for communicating, it’s hard to beat wired earbuds. They’re also relatively cheap, which means they offer great value as well as great audio, making them a surprisingly viable option for most people even in 2024. The only thing you’re compromising on is, perhaps, the convenience of a true wireless experience, but for many, that trade-off is worthwhile.
