Back when Assassin’s Creed Mirage was first announced, developer Ubisoft also shared its plans of another title in the pipeline. At the time, it was called Assassin’s Creed Codename Red, and it was revealed that the game would be set in feudal Japan, something fans of the series have wanted for years now.
Now Ubisoft has finally confirmed that game finally has a new name, and it will be called Assassin’s Creed Shadows. The game is set to get a full reveal on May 15 9:30pm IST. Here’s what to expect from the announcement and the game.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows: What to expect
What Ubisoft will share with us on May 15 is likely going to be a cinematic trailer, something we have seen with multiple entries in the series. However, as is the case with most cinematic Assassin’s Creed trailers till date, we will likely not see any in-game footage so soon.

However, the trailer should give us a fairly good idea of the setting of the game. All speculation so far pointed to a game set in feudal Japan, and with Assassin’s Creed games frequently picking (violent) phases from history as its main theme, it does make sense.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows will likely feature plenty of ninja and samurai filled action throughout the game, along with a central plot that ties the crucial point in Japanese history with the fictional Assassin order which has dictated events of the previous games in the series.
Ubisoft also put up an “hourglass puzzle” for players to crack on X (previously Twitter), presumably with a secret related to the game in the small, animated clip, which shows a large hourglass placed in the middle of a narrow Japanese street.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows will also be the latest action game to adopt a Japanese theme. Popular titles in recent years including Rise of the Ronin and Ghost of Tsushima, the latter also set to get a much-awaited PC port later this week. Stay tuned to Unboxed by Croma for more details on the game.
