If you were waiting for the next Assassin’s Creed game that transports you to feudal Japan, then you will have to hold on for a little longer. Ubisoft has revealed that its upcoming title, the Assassin’s Creed Shadows, is being delayed and it isn’t arriving on the previously scheduled November, 2024 timeline.
Additionally, it has been confirmed to get a broader release, which means it will be available on PC as well as gaming laptops at launch, alongside other platforms.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows to launch next year on most platforms
Ubisoft on X (formerly Twitter) revealed that the Assassin’s Creed Shadows will now be released on February 14, 2025, instead of November 15, 2024. Ubisoft said that it wants to polish and refine the experience.
However, this decision comes hours after Sucker Punch Productions shared the trailer of Ghost of Yotei, a game that’s also set in Japan, and builds on the critically acclaimed title, Ghost of Tsushima.
The game’s delay sure is disappointing for fans waiting for it since its trailer release back in May this year. However, not everything is bad news, as Ubisoft has confirmed the game to be available on most platforms at launch.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows is coming to PC at launch via Steam. It will also be available on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Those who pre-ordered the game will get their refunds, and those who pre-order it in the future, will be entitled to get the first expansion for free.
What to expect from the Assassin’s Creed Shadows?
Ubisoft shared a cinematic trailer earlier this year, and it revealed plenty of details about the game. For starters, the title will be set in feudal Japan in the 16th century, and feature two protagonist – Naoe and Yasuke.
The former is a female protagonist, who’s from the mountain village, and the only survivor after her village was burned down by samurai pawns. She’s a daughter of Fujibayashi Nagato, an assassin from the Iga community.
Yasuke, on the other hand, is an African samurai, who is historically known as Japan’s first Black samurai. Despite destroying Naoe’s home, Yasuke later allies himself with her, and that can also be seen in the trailer released earlier.
All this, and more will soon be explored in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. However, now that the game is delayed, we expect Ubisoft to release a more refined and bug-free title at launch, as most Ubisoft game launches haven’t been that smooth.
