Apple WWDC 2024: What to expect?

A number of announcements are expected to drop during the keynote today. The highlight is likely to be iOS 18. Touted to be Apple’s biggest update in years, iOS 18 is expected to come with major changes in key areas.

The first and likely most important of this, is system-wide AI integration. Apple CEO Tim Cook has previously confirmed that AI will be a big part of the next iOS update. While competitors like Samsung have gone big on Galaxy AI already, Apple is yet to bring a system-wide AI implementation to iPhones and iPads, even though these devices have had built-in NPUs for years now.

Apart from this, leaks and rumours have also suggested that iOS 18 is likely to also go big on customisation, making everything from app icon colours to grid positioning on the home screen more customisable. A number of new visual elements are also expected, including a redesigned control centre and Settings app.

That’s a gist of what to expect at WWDC 2024, but we’re sure Apple will have some more surprises to throw at us during the keynote too. Stay tuned to Unboxed by Croma for all the exciting new updates.
