Apple recently unveiled more than just its latest iPhone 14s. In fact, the tech giant brought forth three new dynamic additions within the Apple Watch category – Watch Series 8, Watch SE and the Watch Ultra, ensuring there’s something for everyone. And if you’re confused, don’t fret! We’ve simplified each one for you down to the price, so you can make an informed buying decision.
Apple Watch Series 8
Apple Watch Series 8 carries forward the same design as its predecessors. Available with a large display, aluminium stainless-steel cases (41mm and 44mm), this smartwatch is available in Starlight, Midnight, Silver, and Product Red colours. If you’re planning to purchase the stainless-steel version, you can alternatively choose between Silver, Graphite and Gold.
While it looks the same, it does come with several technological improvements. For one, it includes the temperature sensor introduced to track ovulation cycles and basal temperature. This tracker can help Watch users track data for family planning or any irregularity in their period.
The Series 8 also comes with a crash detection feature, like the iPhone 14 series. This feature summons the emergency services if the wearer seems to be involved in a crash. There’s also a better low-power mode that can extend the Watch’s life to over 36 hours without charge by temporarily pausing features such as the Always-On display.
Apple Watch SE
Offering most of the features of the Watch Series 8 at a lower, much-affordable price point, the Apple Watch SE is a lighter alternative introduced by the tech giant. It is made using nylon composite material and features trendy colours and a redesigned black case.
Apple Watch SE comes bumped up with the same S8 SiP dual-core processor that the Watch Series 8 uses, making it a faster model within a budget range. And while it comes with a crash detection feature, it skips the ECG readings and temperature sensor.
Apple Watch Ultra
Apple presented the Apple Watch Ultra for the first time this year at its Far Out event. With an exciting new design, this smartwatch offers a powerhouse of features for those who like to rough it outdoors. The case is made using aerospace-grade titanium that keeps the surface of your Apple Watch Ultra corrosion or damage-free. It goes up to 2,000 nits of brightness and sports a new action button in orange.
Apart from that, it also comes with three powerful microphones for added speech clarity and three variants of bands for the sport you choose to indulge in. The Watch Ultra is made for those looking to spend quality time outdoors. This is why Apple has incorporated the most accurate GPS possible on to this smartwatch. It offers more precise location data that measures distance, routes and pace. Paired with the all-new WatchOS 9, the Watch Ultra is equipped to track your stride length, running power and ground contact time as well.
Apart from this, it also comes with a temperature sensor crafted for extreme conditions and an advanced compass app for adventurers. However, a notable feature of this smartwatch includes up to 60 hours of battery life in low-power mode.
