Apple Watch Series 10 could feature a bigger Ultra-sized display

The standard Apple Watch this year may be just as large as the 49mm Apple Watch Ultra

Apple Watch Series 10 could feature a bigger Ultra-sized display

The Apple Watch Ultra is the largest display panel Apple has on a wearable, well, unless you count in the Apple Vision Pro, which is also technically speaking a wearable! But for those that go on your wrist, all variants of the standard Apple Watch fall behind in the on-screen real estate department, next to the Apple Watch Ultra series’ 49mm display.

This large screen is one designed by choice. The larger display makes more sense for the adventure sports enthusiasts that the Apple Watch Ultra is targeted at. A larger display means data and information that is easier and quicker to read when you’re diving under water, or going downhill on a bicycle.

Now, the signature display is reportedly also coming to the next standard Apple Watch, likely to be coined the Apple Watch Series 10.

Apple Watch Series 10: What we know so far?

As per a new report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman via his Power On Newsletter, the Apple Watch Series 10 will come with a 49mm display – the same as the Ultra watches. For context, the current Apple Watch Series 9 is available in 41mm and 45mm sizes. This may be coupled with other improvements including a thinner case and a new chipset.

The latter will also be the “groundwork for some AI enhancements down the road,” adds Gurman, suggesting we may see some form AI powering the Apple Watch Series 10, possibly as part of the Apple Intelligence suite announced earlier this year.

The Apple Watch Series 10 will certainly be an interesting device to look at. Rumours of Apple working on its most innovative smartwatch to mark the product’s 10-year anniversary have been floating around the web for a year now, and the Watch 10 is likely to be that very product.

On the other hand, the tech giant has been struggling with two key upgrades to the health sensors on its watches, as per a report by The Verge. The blood oxygen sensor ban fiasco Apple is going through has also made it difficult for the company to add sleep apnea detection to its watches. How Apple tackles all these issues amidst launching what is hyped up to be the smartwatch that defines the next decade in wearable tech, remains to be seen.
