Apple held what could be one of its final events of the year earlier this week. The ‘Scary Fast’ launch event saw the brand finally launch its powerful successors to the Apple M2 chipsets with the new M3 series of processors, along with new iMacs and MacBooks.
However, the unspoken “one more thing” of this event turned out to be the fact that the entire launch event was shot on an iPhone 15 Pro Max.
At the end of the event, which featured two new MacBooks, one new 24-inch iMac and new Apple silicon, we also saw Tim Cook make an appearance for the keynote, along with numerous other key Apple staff members who took centre stage to explain various aspects of the new products- all of which was captured on Apple’s latest flagship.

A small text box at the end of the event let us know that the entire event, including some drone shots, was shot on an iPhone 15 Pro Max and edited on a Mac.
Not the first time iPhones were used in professional videography
If you’re amazed by this feat, you should probably know that iPhones, especially their Pro counterparts, have been used as professional video recording devices for years. Apart from a sea of creators who will swear by the device, numerous ads, music videos and more that have entirely been shot on an iPhone are also available to stream online.
The iPhones were always lauded for their video recording capabilities, but that is not why this move by Apple hits the spot. It is the fact that the brand used its own smartphone over the world’s best recording equipment, which the trillion-dollar company could have had easy access to.
Coming to the iPhone 15 Pro Max in particular, Apple has included a number of new video features in the phone that help both amateurs and professionals take better videos. This includes the ability to now record 4K 60fps ProRes video straight to an external SSD, as well as encode videos in log, which allows more creative freedom with colours in post-production. The new 5x telephoto lens of the iPhone 15 Pro also assists videographers, letting them take optically zoomed in Cinematic Mode video for a more immersive effect.
