Apple Music gets a new karaoke mode

Right in time for the year-end festivities, Apple has announced its latest features that will turn your favourite library of songs into karaoke-ready tracks. Christened Apple Sing, users can now turn down the backing vocals of their beloved songs at the tap of a button and sing along using real-time lyrics.

Unlike most karaoke tracks, this feature does not require users to switch to a separate karaoke song and instead allows them to choose by tapping a slider.

How does Apple Sing work?

The tech giant has incorporated an on-device machine-learning algorithm that isolates the vocals and allows users to adjust the volume on their Apple Music app. It also mentions how the tech build remains similar to that of Apple’s noise cancellation expertise and various other Facetime-related developments.

Who can use Apple Music Karaoke Mode?

If you’re an iPhone 11 and above user, you can make the most of this feature by logging into your Apple Music account. Apart from this, you can also jam with Apple Sing on your iPad and Apple TV. To access this mode, you need to enter the lyrics view and tap on the microphone button to adjust the vocals and their volume. However, it is crucial to note that the feature doesn’t completely eliminate backing vocals, and you may still hear them faintly — but they do make an excellent feature to have during impromptu parties and family gatherings.

Additionally, Apple Music offers real-time synced lyrics with its existing library, and Apple Music Sing builds upon this feature to allow users to read them while singing. Instead of illuminating every line though, the improved version of this feature lights up every syllable to make it simpler for users to sing along. The company is also working towards updated features that will better support overlapping vocals and duets.

So, take your parties up a notch with Apple Sing this holiday season — we know we will!
