New iPads are around the corner

Next-gen Apple iPads to reportedly launch soon

It’s been a month since the iPhone 15 series launched. However, amidst all the fanfare and excitement over the iPhone 15 and the Watch Series 9, Apple’s other major offering seems to have been a tad bit overlooked. If you’re wondering just what we’re talking about, it happens to be the iPads.

Now, it has been well over a year since Apple unveiled an update to its iPad lineup, and Apple loyalists the world over have been eagerly waiting for the next big update to the same.

Well, the wait might just come to an end, soon. A report from Supercharged says that Apple could announce an updated iPad lineup as early as this week. Intrigued? Read on.

Next-gen Apple iPad lineup launch

As per Supercharged, Apple is expected to announce an updated base model iPad, as well as a new iPad Air and iPad Mini. However, the updates are expected to more likely be hardware and software oriented and may not bring with them any major cosmetic changes.

This is owing to the fact that the current base model iPad, which was released in October last year, brought with it a number of design changes, including a thinner bezel, a side-mounted touch ID button, and more.

The current generation iPad Air was released in March last year and was powered by Apple’s M1 chip. The report says that the next-generation iPad Air might be upgraded and powered by an M2 chip instead.

Similarly, the latest-gen iPad Mini is also expected to be powered by an A16 Bionic chip, as compared to the current generation’s A15 Bionic chip. However, since the current generation base iPad is powered by an A14 Bionic chipset, whether the next generation will get an A15 or an A16 Bionic chipset remains to be seen.

As per another rumor last week, Apple is also expected to address the “jelly scrolling” issues one sees on the current generation iPad Minis, which causes content to appear as if it is lagging while scrolling.

The iPad Pro lineup, as per the report, will remain as is for now. Though it already has been a year since the current generation iPad Pro model was revealed, the next-generation model isn’t expected to be ready until early next year.

However, iPad loyalists have been eagerly awaiting it, as it is expected to sport an OLED display for the very first time. Either way, we can’t wait to see what Apple has in store for us, with its next generation of iPads.
