Everything you need to know about the upcoming iPads and MacBooks

New Apple iPad Air, iPad Pro, MacBooks could launch by April 2024

Those who have been waiting for Apple to drop some new iPad models likely had a long wait since 2022 since the brand did not launch any new tablets last year. However, it seems we’re finally nearing the launch of some new iPads.

As per Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple could be launching a bunch of new devices by March or April this year. This includes iPad Air models, new iPad Pro models and even a refresh to the MacBook Air series. Here’s everything you need to know.

New iPad Air

The report suggests that Apple is working on releasing the next iPad Air in two sizes – 10.9-inch and 12.9-inch. The tablets are expected to sport the Apple M2 chip, a redesigned camera module on the back, and support for Bluetooth 5.3 and Wi-Fi 6E. However, the new chip alone should offer aa significant boost in the performance of the iPad Air Series.

The new devices will succeed the 2022 iPad Air 5th-Gen, which was powered by the M1 chip. The report notes that no major design changes are expected aside from the new camera module.

New iPad Pro

Perhaps the most awaited tablets right now are the next-gen iPad Pro series. That’s because the new tablets are expected to be Apple’s first with OLED screens. This should offer the next iPad Pro models to offer the same crispy colours and contrasts offered by the newest iPhones, except on a much larger screen.

ProMotion, one of the highlight features of the iPad Pro series, will also likely improve with the switch to OLED panels, now allowing for an even lower drop in the minimum refresh rate (from 24Hz to maybe 10Hz or 1Hz) which should improve the battery life a little.

The report also suggests the new Pro models will offer higher brightness, lower power consumption and as a result, come with a higher launch price.

New MacBook Air

Along with the iPhone 15 series and the new Vision Pro, Apple’s biggest launch of 2023 was the new MacBook Pro, now sporting the M3-series chipsets. For those who don’t want to a MacBook Pro just yet, however, Apple is now expected to launch the refreshed MacBook Air laptops.

The new MacBook Air laptops are also expected to be powered by the M3 chips, allowing capabilities like hardware-accelerated ray-tracing, better lighting, reflections and shadows, and more.

The report notes that no major design changes are expected in the upcoming MacBook Air series, but Apple may throw in support for Wi-Fi 6E.

That’s all we know about the upcoming products yet. No information can be officially confirmed without Apple announcing the same, and knowing the brand, that may not happen until we’re at least a couple of weeks from the launch.
