Apple has started rolling out its next desktop operating system named macOS Sequoia. The latest macOS version is eligible on more than 10 devices, including MacBooks, iMac, and Mac Mini/Studio devices.
macOS Sequoia brings in a slew of features to make the user experience on Apple Mac devices better and more convenient. Let’s see all the new features in the latest version of Apple’s Mac operating system, the eligible devices, and how you can update your system.
What’s new in macOS Sequoia?
iPhone Mirroring
Apple’s macOS Sequoia comes with more than seven new features and changes, starting with iPhone Mirroring. This one is for those who own an iPhone alongside a Mac device. iPhone Mirroring is the newest continuity feature that lets you access and engage with your iPhone from your Mac.
This means you can not only see your iPhone just as it is on your Mac, but also control it while the screen is turned off, so that nobody sees what’s happening on your iPhone. It also works with StandBy, so you can continue to glance at the clock on your iPhone, while using the device from Mac.
Safari gets supercharged
macOS Sequoia brings a supercharged version of Safari, although, it’s the same one available on the latest iOS 18 operating system for iPhones. Safari can now show you Highlights of a webpage, it could be a summary of an article, or a quick link to a movie or address.
Furthermore, the Reader mode has received a redesign with a more streamlined view that shows summary and table of contents. There’s also the Distraction Control that can let you hide unnecessary items on a webpage, such as a mature advert or something irrelevant.
Dedicated Passwords app
Apple has added a dedicated Passwords app to Mac, thanks to Sequoia. The Passwords app can not only store passkeys, but also save passwords across apps and websites for you. It can also store your Wi-Fi passwords and other credentials in one place.
It’s an all-in-one app that takes on popular apps like LastPass and 1Password, whilst being “incredibly secure” with end-to-end encryption. Note that your passwords can also be synced on all devices, including Windows with the iCloud for Windows app.

As for Video Conferencing, users can apply built-in backgrounds, such as colour gradients or shots of scenery on FaceTime video calls.
