Apple’s Mac mini has been a great choice for those who want some portable power to carry around with macOS, being especially handy for creators and those in the editing business. The computer did get a refresh last year but has still been carrying largely the same design since the Steve Jobs era. That could change very soon.
As per a Bloomberg report, the Apple Mac mini is undergoing a major refresh and is set to launch later this year. The report suggests the new Mac mini will be closer to the size of the Apple TV Set-top box.

The new Mac mini is currently in its testing phase and may feature “at least” three USB-C ports along with an HDMI output port. It will also retain its aluminium casing design.
New Mac mini to get M4 power
The new design isn’t all. The new Mac mini is also set to be the first in the series to feature Apple’s M4 chipset, which debuted on the new iPad Pro variants earlier this year.
The brand claimed during the launch that the M4 is not just more powerful, but efficient enough to deliver the performance of the Apple M2 chip in half the power.
It also features an all new NPU (Neural Processing Unit) that supports 38 TOPS (trillion operations per second). It remains to be seen if there will be changes to the M4 chip for the Mac mini, though. After all, we have seen Apple make multiple versions of the same chipset in the past.

It seems the new Mac mini will not be ready until October this year, as per the report, so don’t expect to launch it alongside the iPhone 16 series next month. However, we should see a launch soon after, which means the new Mac mini can be the perfect Christmas present for someone (or just you) later this year.
