Apple iPhone SE Gen-4: Everything we know so far

The next iPhone SE may just be the biggest jump in the series in terms of design

Apple iPhone SE Gen-4: Everything we know so far

You’d be forgiven for thinking Apple only makes flagship smartphones. That’s because the lesser-known iPhone SE-series, aimed at providing buyers the core Apple experience without spending too much, is not updated every year.

With the iPhone SE Gen-3 launching back in 2022, it’s about time Apple launched a new affordable iPhone, and that brings us to the iPhone SE Gen-4. The phone has just started to appear in leaks, and what the device could look like is starting to take shape.

That’s because the next iPhone SE is expected to be the first in the series to drop the large-bezel, TouchID design and take up the notch design that today’s iPhones use. Here’s everything you need to know.

iPhone SE Gen-4 Design: What to expect?

The iPhone SE Gen-4 is expected to leave behind the TouchID design and take up a more modern design. As per recent leaks by X (previously Twitter) leakster Majin Buu, the next iPhone SE will take up an iPhone 16-like appearance on the front.

This would still include only a single camera on the back though, and it seems the dual and triple-camera setups would be reserved for the flagship series. More importantly, the phone is expected to feature Dynamic Island on the front like the newer iPhones, which would signal the end of the older iPhone 8-inspired design the SE series had been sporting.

Previous leaks by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo had suggested that the next iPhone SE could feature a 6.1-inch OLED display and a custom 5G chip, which would replace the Snapdragon 5G modems on the phone.

When can you expect the next iPhone SE?

While there is no official confirmation or a timeline on the launch of the next iPhone SE, Apple does tend to launch a new model in the series every two years. That would set the iPhone SE Gen-4 up for a 2024 launch.

However, as with all Apple products, nothing is concrete until Apple announces the same officially. Hence, we suggest you take this information with a grain of salt.

That said, if you’ve been looking forward to an affordable iPhone that doesn’t come with the older design of the SE-series phones of the past, 2024 may finally be the year to make the iPhone SE a worthy purchase.
