Apple has unveiled its newest addition to the iPhone 16 lineup, and it’s called the iPhone 16e. The brand has clearly moved on from the SE branding and seems to be simplifying the name.
Along with a new name, the new Apple phone also packs improved specifications and features. From a brand-new design to the latest A18 chipset and the Action Button, here’s everything you need to know about the Apple iPhone 16e.
iPhone 16e key features, specifications
The iPhone 16e has an unfamiliar design when compared to the other models in the iPhone 16 lineup. It features a notch on the display like the iPhone 13 and the iPhone 14. The screen is a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display with OLED technology. The refresh rate however stays at 60Hz.
The device has a single camera on the rear, which is now on par with the iPhone 16. It’s a 48MP Fusion camera with support for HDR and 2x zoom. There’s a 12MP camera on the front for selfies. The device can shoot 4K Dolby Vision videos at up to 60fps.
The smartphone also has the Action Button like the iPhone 16 lineup. It allows users to quickly access their favourite apps with one click. Users can set different actions for the Action Button, like ChatGPT, camera, flash, and others.
Performance-wise, the smartphone is powered by Apple’s A18 chipset, paired with the new Apple C1 modem. The latter is the first cellular modem designed by Apple. The smartphone is advertised to offer up to six hours longer battery than the iPhone 11 and 12 hours longer battery than all the iPhone SE models.
There’s also a USB-C port for charging, however, the fast-charging speeds are unknown as of yet. The device also has an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. It boots on iOS 18 out of the box. It also has the Apple Intelligence suite, with features like Writing Tools, Genmoji, Image Playground, and others.
