iPhone 16, Samsung Galaxy S24 offer fastest 5G speeds in India, says report

It shouldn’t exactly come as a surprise that the iPhone 16 series and the Samsung Galaxy S24 series offer some of the most sought-after smartphones right now. With a combination of everything from sleek design to segment-leading performance, these are some of the best phones for power users.

However, irrespective of how well a game can run on your Android phone, or how many apps can run at once on your iPhone, there’s one aspect that’s often overlooked when customers look for their next flagship device – connectivity speeds.

Now, a new report gives us a good look at the average 5G speeds of both the Samsung Galaxy S24 series devices and the iPhone 16 series devices.

How both the smartphone series fare in India

As per an Ooklareport, a trusted name in network connectivity benchmarks, the iPhone 16 series leads the 5G speed race in India, with phones in the series offering the highest median 5G download speeds (261.57 Mbps) as well as the lowest median multi-server latency at 44ms.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 series, comes in second at median 5G speeds (251.17 Mbps). However, the Samsung phones lead the race when it comes to 5G upload speeds.

Older smartphones like the iPhone 15 series and 14 series delivered median 5G upload and download speeds of about 14 Mbps and 230 Mbps. Compared to the iPhone 14 series, the new iPhone 16 series devices offer a 30 Mbps advantage an average.

The advantage that the newer devices have could be traced back to the new Qualcomm Snapdragon X75 5G modem, which is a part of both the iPhone 16 series as well as the Galaxy S24 series phones and is responsible for 5G performance on the devices.

Something interesting to note is that 5G speeds can change across other countries, and data for the same is also provided in the report. In the US for instance, the iPhone 16 series phones continue leading the median 5G download speed race, but offer an average of 324.23 Mbps, which is much more than Indian 5G speeds.

One of the factors for this could be the presence of mmWave 5G modules, which are faster than sub 6GHz 5G modules, but are only available on the US variant of iPhones.
