How to download iOS 18 update

If your iPhone makes it to the list, there are a few more steps to download the update on your device. Navigate to the Settings app and tap on General. Within this, you will find Software Updates. The iOS 18 update should be visible within this tab.

How to prep your iPhone for a software update

Before installing a software update on your device, ensure you have the following checklist in place.

Freeing up some space: If you use an older iPhone, chances are you have limited space on your device. A large update usually takes up more space, and you can start by deleting apps and media that you no longer require.

Backing up your files: Stable update or not, it is always a good idea to back up your files. In the case of an unforeseen complication, the back up will always allow you to access your important files and prevent data loss.

Charging your device: Lastly, make sure your device is charged before you tap on the install button. It is also critical to have your iPhone connected to a stable Wi-Fi network to avoid any hiccups or glitches.

With this, you should be able to accommodate the update successfully. The new iOS update is marked as Apple’s ‘biggest redesign’ yet and brings in more ways to customise the iPhone experience. Apart from apps and widgets, it also incorporates simpler ways to stay connected with Messages.

Apple has also transformed the Photos app, which will now allow users to relive their favourite memories seamlessly. Lastly, it even brings in a new hiking experience to Maps and updates to Wallet for users with a passion for travelling.

However, if you don’t see it on your iPhone just yet, don’t fret. Apple plans to gradually roll it out to iPhone users, and you should be able to locate it sometime soon.
