Apple Intelligence is coming to eligible Apple devices soon, and it will utilise a lot of resources on your device. The first among these is of course storage space, and this is on top of the system space that iOS, iPadOS, or macOS takes up.
Apple has revealed the exact storage space the Apple Intelligence suite will be taking up on your device, and it’s not too much. But there’s a caveat.
Apple Intelligence will take up 4GB of storage space on your device
According to Apple, Apple Intelligence will take up to 4GB on the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and all iPhone 16 models. It will take up the same storage space on iPad and Mac models with M1 and later.

While 4GB isn’t too much of a space, note that this may increase over time as Apple rolls out more features. So, it’s better to keep some extra storage for the Apple Intelligence suite on your Apple devices.
If you are planning to purchase a new iPhone right now, consider more storage as a priority. So, it is best to opt for at least the 256GB storage variant for your device to function smoothly. It is worth noting that Apple Intelligence is a part of iOS 18.1 and it is not available on even the latest iPhone models, like the iPhone 16s and iPhone 16 Pros, out of the box.
That’s because the new iPhones ship with iOS 18. Also, apart from the iPhones mentioned above, no other models will support Apple Intelligence due to the hardware limitation.
Having said that, if you are swayed by Apple Intelligence, you must go with iPhone 15 Pro or newer models on the iPhone side, and iPad and Mac with M1 or later.
