Apple’s HomePod mini is a sought-after device, especially for those a part of its eco-system. The Siri-powered smart speaker, which was available in a variety of different colourways, just got a brand new colour option – midnight.
Made using 100 per cent recycled mesh fabric, Apple announced that the latest HomePod mini variant would join other solid colours, including yellow, orange, blue, and white.
Apple HomePod mini midnight: What's new?
Apple has not made any other changes to the HomePod mini midnight variant, and the internal hardware, as well as the design of the smart speaker remains remain the same. The colour resembles the brand’s iconic ‘space grey’ shade, which was found on Apple devices four years ago.
HomePod mini stands 3.3 inches tall and comes powered by the Apple S5 chipset. It also features a full-range driver, a neodymium magnet and a pair of force-cancelling passive radiators for deep bass and crisp high frequencies.
Apple has also equipped the HomePod mini with a total of four microphones and it can respond to ‘Hey Siri‘ for support as well as other extended functions.

The HomePod mini makes a sought-after addition to the Apple eco-space and can perform a wide range of day-to-day tasks for you. Siri can help identify the person speaking and offer customised music, playlists and podcast recommendations for them. Apart from these, it can also respond to messages, take notes, make calendar appointments and answer phone calls based on voice commands.
The HomePod mini is compatible across a number of devices, including iPhones, Macs and TVs. It also supports an intercom feature between two HomePods, allowing voice to travel across when connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Lastly, it gets built-in smoke and carbon monoxide monitors, along with temperature as well as humidity trackers.
Apple HomePod mini midnight: Price and availability
The HomePod mini midnight variant is priced at Rs 10,900 and can be purchased at an Apple store or online. It will soon also be available across Apple-authorised stores and resellers, including Tribe by Croma.
Alternatively, you can consider other options within the price range the Echo Spot smart speaker or the Qubo Smart speaker, which offers a similar set of features.
