Android 16 may bring iPhone’s Dynamic Island-like notifications to Pixel devices

Google’s Android 15 is now rolling out to the Pixel phones, and most other OEMs will wrap up its release by H1 of next year. Having said that, we can now move our attention to what comes after – Android 16. And as per a piece of new information, Android 16 could bring the iPhone’s Dynamic Island-like notification style to Pixels and other Android devices.

This new notification style will help you easily see the ETA of your ride and food delivery, among other things, enhancing user convenience. Read on to know everything about this new Android feature.

iPhone’s Dynamic Island-like notification style may arrive on Android

As per Android Authority, the next Android version’s latest beta code has revealed a new style of notifications. These aren’t the ones that just show up in the notification tray, but also on the top of your screen, and they stay persistent.

As you might have guessed by now, these notifications are like iPhone’s Dynamic Island alerts that stay on top of your screen and constantly display information. For now, this feature is called Rich Ongoing Notifications on Android.

These notifications will be able to display live information, showing you the ETA for your cab ride or food delivery, and more. It’s worth noting that a similar tweak to notifications was also spotted in Android 15 QPR1 Beta 3. However, not all features make it up to the final version and when they arrive, they may be different than their beta form.

Having said that, the Rich Ongoing Notifications feature is believed to be available in the next Android version, that’s Android 16. Notably, such persistent notification style has been available in some flavoured Android versions too, basically custom skins, like Realme or Infinix’s pill style notifications. However, these notifications are limited to calling and showing the charging status.

But we may see a full-fledged usage of such notification style in the next Android version on Pixel devices. Since Google is at the initial stage of building Android 16, we might see some more changes to this feature and some more features could be added along the way.

Google may release Android 16 with features like Rich Ongoing Notifications to Pixel devices first. However, we never know, as the latest Pixel 9 series was late to get the Android 15 update.
