AMD has unveiled the Ryzen 7000 Pro series of chipsets for laptop and desktop CPUs – the latest addition to its Pro line-up of chipsets. These chips are built on AMD’s proprietary Zen 4 architecture and are aimed especially at systems for large business enterprises.
Ryzen Pro is AMD’s counterpart to Intel’s vPro chips, which come with both software and hardware features that help generally make IT security and general IT management practices more efficient, as well as performance tweaks which can handle multitasking in a sustained manner, which business computers usually need to do.

TDP stands for thermal design power. This number tells you the maximum heat a CPU or GPU, can generate in watts. It is used as a basic indicator of a system’s power consumption. Although more watts result in better performance, it also results in higher amounts of heat generated and more power consumption.
The flagship Ryzen 9 Pro 7940HS and Ryzen 7 Pro 7840HS series’ offer a maximum clock speed of up to 5.2GHz and 5.1GHz respectively. Both chipsets feature 8 performance cores and 16 threads, and up to 54W of TDP. As for the Ryzen 7 Pro 7840U, the chipset comes with 8 performance cores and 16 threads with 5.1GHz clock speed, 24MB of L2+L3 cache, and up to 28W of TDP.
When can I purchase systems with the 7000 Pro series chipsets?
As of this writing, there is no word when desktops and laptops featuring the 7000 Pro series chipsets will go on sale.
