Advantages and benefits of buying an inverter air conditioner

The summer months bring heat, intense sunlight, and high temperatures in most parts of the country, and you’ll find yourself needing your air conditioner for more hours per day. If your old AC is due for an upgrade, or if you are finally ready to take the plunge and equip your rooms with dedicated cooling, now’s a good time to invest in a new air conditioner.

There are many different types of ACs and the terminology can get a bit confusing, but here we’re going to cover one fairly common type in the AC segment and also outline its benefits.

Air conditioners in India typically come with either inverter or non-inverter technology, and buyers are often confused about which of these two types of ACs is ideal for their needs. Read on to find out the benefits of buying an inverter AC, and which situations it is ideal and suitable for.

Advantage and benefits of inverter air conditioner

The key feature of an inverter AC is, of course, the inverter. This component controls the speed of the compressor motor, and allows the AC to control and fine-tune the desired temperature in the room without fully powering up the motor all the time. In comparison, non-inverter ACs run at a standard speed and power level.

The compressor motor needs to power down occasionally to ensure that the temperature doesn’t drop below the desired level, and then power back up later to maintain the cooling.

As such, inverter ACs deliver the following benefits:

Better power efficiency: Inverter air conditioners use less electricity as a result of controlling and modulating the speed of the compressor motor. This results in electricity bill savings which will typically make up for the higher cost of the inverter AC itself within a few months.

Voltage stability: In India, a common problem with electricity is instability in voltage, which can cause damage and increased wear-and-tear for heavy appliances. Inverter technology is better at handling voltage changes and instability, along with being able to operate the motor at a lower level safely even when voltage drops. This also ensures that the components and parts of the AC undergo less wear-and-tear, allowing for the AC to last longer even in intense environments and usage scenarios.

Temperature consistency: An inverter AC is able to manage the temperature of a room more effectively, maintaining a constant and stable temperature without too much fluctuation, thanks to being able to run the compressor at varying levels. The AC also frequently monitors the temperature through sensors and adjusts the motor speed to allow small increases or decreases more often.

Noise levels: Inverter ACs typically make less noise in operation, including more stable increments in motor speed which are usually the most jarring and noisy aspects of an air conditioner’s operation. You’ll hear less of the sudden increases in air conditioner noise, thus ensuring a more comfortable and quiet environment while you sleep.

Although inverter ACs are more expensive than non-inverter units, the advantages – primarily the lower cost of running – make them worthwhile.
