Adobe Acrobat is one of the most popular PDF editors across the globe, and being a part of the Adobe group, the software has now received a new update that brings some cool AI features to the tool on laptops and desktops.
This includes the ability to create and edit images through prompts, as well as creating summaries and more. Here’s all you need to know.
Adobe Acrobat: All new generative AI features
Kicking off the changelog are two new options in the Adobe Acrobat Edit menu. Generative Fill allows you to mark an area within an image in a PDF and use generative AI to intelligently fill it.

Meanwhile, the new Remove Background feature also helps you remove backgrounds from images, allowing you to keep just the central subject, or add it to a separate background altogether.
There’s also a new Generate Image feature, which uses the Adobe Firefly Image 3 Model to allow users to add new images using text prompts, which can be as simple or detailed as required. This allows Acrobat users to address complex graphical needs without requiring those last-moment designing skills.
That’s not all, though. Acrobat can now also synthesise information from multiple documents and provide in-depth insights. Meeting pointers, or other kinds of PDFs can now be instantly summarised.
For the privacy conscious, Adobe also adds that the Firefly model does not use customer data to be trained, and instead sources data from licensed and public domain content.
Who gets the new Acrobat update?
The new Adobe Acrobat update actually comes for free from June 18 to June 28, 2024. However, after the 10-day period, users who want to continue using the AI features must subscribe to the AI-assistant add-on, prices for which start at Rs 558.14 per month (or Rs 4,786.08 per year) in India. Both these plans also include the Acrobat Reader app on smartphones.
