When you hear the name ‘Acer’, you probably think of laptops. But that might change soon. Acer is stepping into the competitive Indian smartphone market, with its first devices set to launch on April 15. The company confirmed the new date via a teaser, after an earlier plan to launch on March 25 was quietly pushed back.
The teaser features a large camera module and the tagline “The next horizon.” While Acer hasn’t officially named the devices, leaks suggest we could see two models: the Acerpure Acerone Liquid S162E4 and the Acerone Liquid S272E4. Both are expected to be powered by MediaTek chipsets.
Acer to launch smartphones in India on April 15
Acer earlier planned to launch its smartphones in India on March 25, however, the launch date was pushed to April 15 for unknown reasons. The two expected launches are anticipated to feature a gamut of AI features. The models previously surfaced on the Acerpure India website, however, Acer hasn’t confirmed the model names yet, so take this with a pinch of salt.
According to leaks, the Acerpure Liquid S162E4 is expected to house a 6.5-inch HD+ LCD display with Gorilla Glass 5 protection. It may run on the MediaTek Helio P35 SoC, and it could have a 16MP primary camera. Given these specifications, we estimate the device to be priced under the Rs 10,000 mark. Here are some options at a similar price you can check out.
On the other hand, the Acerone Liquid S272E4 is speculated to come with a 6.7-inch display, a 20MP primary shooter, and a customised MediaTek Helio P35 SoC. The phones will likely run on Android 14 and will be powered by a 5,000mAh battery.
