Acer Aspire 3 review

Easy-to-use, easy on your pockets

Acer Aspire 3 review

The Acer Aspire series has been a fan favourite and sought after by several. Trusty, reliable and budgeted, you know you’re bound to receive uncompromised performance without spending a fortune. Acer launched its Aspire 3 (A315-24P), intending to lend ‘more with less’, and we couldn’t wait to try our hands on the device first-hand. If you’re wondering if the laptop lives up to the standard set by its predecessors and its tempting price tag, make sure you read the rest of our review to know more:

Design

We reviewed the Acer Aspire 3 in Pure Silver shade colour. With a whopping 15-inch Full HD display, it may seem overwhelmingly large to handle, but it is a refreshing change if you primarily use your laptop to stream videos.

A striking feature of the Acer Aspire 3 is the inclusion of a number-pad placement on the keyboard, giving it a more expansive, business-like look. We were a tad disappointed with it lacking a backlight, but we’re ready to let that go for the utility it otherwise provides. The chassis may seem metallic; however, the plastic build makes it relatively lightweight to handle.

Display

Despite the dense bezels, the display still stands out because of its screen size. And, of course, you don’t have to worry about the glare; it stays anti-glare across all angles. While the size is a plus, there is still a good chance you might find the colours slightly washed out. But that said, you have the option of manually adjusting them to your liking by tweaking them in display settings.

With an UMA AMD Radeon Graphics card, the Acer Aspire 3 is better suited for light to moderate gaming. We used the laptop for casual browsing and catching up on our favourite shows and were not disappointed with the output.

Performance and Software

Acer Aspire 3 comes fired up with AMD Ryzen 7000 Series Processor and an M.2 SSD *1 (with up to 1TB storage). It gives you a reasonably decent CPU experience, and you wouldn’t have to worry about facing a lag during usage. It also comes equipped with USB 3.2 Type A Gen1 x 1, USB 3.2 Type, A Gen1 x 1, and USB 3.2 Type C (Full Function) x 1. Apart from that, you also get an HDMI 2.1 port and a 3.5mm audio jack x 1.

Battery

The laptop comes with a 42-Wh battery, and Acer claims it runs for up to 11 hours with casual usage. We could use it without much trouble and didn’t have to power it up while streaming a movie or two.

Verdict

Acer Aspire 3 is priced at Rs 47,990 and is an excellent choice, whether you’re a student looking for your first laptop or a business professional aiming to travel light. It makes a stylish solution to have alongside your travels and is undoubtedly a performance-ready device. If you’re looking for something that doesn’t punch a hole in your wallet, there couldn’t be a better laptop for you than the Acer Aspire 3!
