Is your mobile network playing hide-and-seek? In a world where smartphones have practically become an extension of ourselves, it gets quite frustrating when your mobile network randomly decides to stop working.

Ever wondered what to do in such situations? Read on.

Know your mobile network meltdowns

Mobile network issues are more common than you think, and there are many reasons why they might happen. So we thought, we’d put together this little list of reasons your mobile network might not be working, and easy fixes for the same.

1. Poor signal strength

2. Outages on the network provider’s end

3. Misconfigured network settings

4. SIM card issues

5. Software issues

1. Poor signal strength

Let’s get the most obvious, and one of the most common causes out of the way first. You’d have, at times, received a “No Service” indicator on your smartphone or might have noticed a singular signal strength bar, or even no bars at all. This can occur because you may be in an area with poor network, such as on a hill or deep in the forest, or even because of nearby obstructions such as tall buildings. In such cases, try and relocate to an area where you may get better coverage.

2. Outages on the network provider’s end

Network issues don’t always occur because you’re in a poor network coverage area. Network service providers may experience outages, technical glitches, or carry out scheduled maintenance on cell towers, on their end. To rule out this possibility, it is always better to check with your network provider and inquire about any outages they may be facing.

3. Misconfigured network settings

It often happens that fiddling with your phone’s settings can disrupt your mobile network as well. Misconfigured network settings can cause significant connection issues for your device. In case you’re facing network issues and there’s no other apparent explanation for the same, consider reviewing and resetting your network to its default settings.

4. SIM card issues

Now, not a lot of people may know this, but your SIM card itself can cause network disruption in your devices as well. A SIM card is much like the heart of your phone’s mobile network. At times, it may get damaged due to improper insertion, or even a fall. In such a situation, your mobile network is likely to die.

Therefore, in case your mobile network suddenly stops working for no apparent reason, check your SIM card and ensure that it is in good shape and correctly seated in its slot. If you suspect any physical damage, you can always contact your network provider to provide you with a replacement, either with the same number or a different one.

5. Software issues

New software and security patches on your devices, whether Android or iOS, bring new features and security improvements to your phones. However, at times, they can also cause unforeseen issues on your device. If you face mobile network issues right after a recent update, consider trying to roll back the updates and then check again. If all else fails, you may have to consider a factory reset to fix the issue. However, this is a last resort, as such issues occur rarely. However, if it does come to it, always ensure you backup all your data before you reset your device.

You can tackle mobile network issues with these simple and easy fixes. We hope this helps.
