The Game Awards 2023 was a great opportunity to look back at several memorable titles this year, including Alan Wake 2, Baldur’s Gate 3, Spider-Man 2, and Resident Evil 4 to name a few. At the same time, this event also gave us a glimpse at what gamers had in store for them in the near future. In case you missed the event, here’s a look at the 10 most exciting announcements.
Sega announces five new games
Sega announced not one, but as many as five new games to look forward to in the coming years, starting in 2024. These five games include Shinobi, Crazy Taxi, Streets of Rage, Golden Axe, and Jet Set Radio. Most of these games are continuations of past series, but sport completely new graphics and gameplay, with Streets of Rage and Golden Axe even moving from 2D to 3D worlds.
World of Goo 2
Developed by 2D game, the beloved 2008 game World of Goo is finally getting a sequel, in the form of World of Goo 2. The trailer features all sorts of wacky things a player can expect in the game – right from oil spills to floating islands. The game’s objective is simple – progress through the game by reaching certain points and solving puzzles, fixing physics-based issues, all with the help of bits of goo.
Dead by Daylight spinoff – The Casting of Frank Stone
Developer Behaviour Interactive along with Supermassive Games is teaming up to develop The Casting of Frank Stone, a single-player horror game set in the Dead By Daylight universe. The Casting of Frank Stone follows a group of teenagers living in a village in Oregon, recovering from the horrors Frank Stone had inflicted on it in the past. The game will be released for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC sometime in 2024.
Two new DLCs announced for Final Fantasy XVI
Square Enix, in addition to bagging an award for Final Fantasy XVI, also revealed that it was working on two new DLCs for the game. The first one, Echoes of the Fallen, is a story chapter that takes place before the final battle, with the whole gang working together. In the DLC, Clive can also wield the iconic buster sword weapon from Final Fantasy VII.

In the other DLC, The Rising Tide, Clive will finally be able to fight the water dragon Leviathan. What’s more, the former is available to play right now, while the latter will be available as early as spring 2024.
The Finals is out!
The Finals, a first-person shooter developed by Embark Studios, was launched to coincide with the Game Awards 2023. The game focuses on team-based matches on maps with a destructible environment, with players being encouraged to use the same to their advantage. The people combat in a televised virtual combat show, with holographic crowds and real-time commentary. It is available on PS5, PC, as well Xbox Series X/S.
Jurassic Park: Survival
Saber Interactive and Universal Studios dropped a trailer for a new Jurassic Park game at the Game Awards 2023. It’s called Jurassic Park: Survival, and is an adventure game set on Isla Nublar. The events of the game begin just one day after the events of the original Jurassic Park film. You play scientist as Dr. Maya Joshi, who is stranded on the island full of dangerous predatory dinosaurs, each with their own unique traits and abilities.
Light No Fire
The director of Hello Games, Sean Murray made an appearance at the game awards, to mark 10 years of No Man’s Sky. However, he also had a little surprise in store, and unveiled a new game called Light No Fire.
The game, in contrast to the former, is set on a procedurally generated planet Earth, instead of the universe. The game features an open world that can be fully explored and allows players to ride flying mounts, mine for resources, craft objects to survive, and more.
Blade game announced
The developers of Deathloop and the Dishonored series – Arkane Lyon, announced their latest title – Blade. The title will be set in a quarantined section of Paris dealing with a vampire uprising, with you playing Blade, a half-human, half-vampire protagonist who works as a vampire hunter, taking on them.
God of War Ragnarök Valhalla DLC
The beloved 2018 title, God of War Ragnarök is getting a new surprise epilogue in the form of the Valhalla DLC. This DLC will see Kratos and Mimir awaken outside of the gates of Valhalla, taking on the monsters that lie within.
Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons Remake
2013 title Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, is getting a remake in 2024, with Swedish director Josef Fares working alongside developer Avantgarden. The story remains the same, albeit with completely new graphics. The game follows brothers Naia and Naiee’s attempts to save their father from a fatal illness while battling life-threatening obstacles including high cliffs, deadly trolls, and a lot more. The game will be made available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
Well, that’s it! These, for us, were the most exciting announcements from the Game Awards 2023. The past year has been a great one for gamers, and we’re sure the next will be a treat as well.
