Xiaomi 15 series with Leica cameras, Snapdragon 8 Elite launched in India

Not long after unveiling and showcasing its much-awaited flagship smartphones at MWC 2025, Xiaomi has finally taken the wraps off the devices for the Indian market. This time around, Xiaomi has included both standard and photography-focused smartphones in its lineup, and they are powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. Wondering if the phones are for you? Here’s everything you need to know:

Xiaomi 15 Series: Features to look out for

First up, the Xiaomi 15 comes with a compact 6.36-inch CrystalRes Dynamic AMOLED display. It gets up to 120Hz of refresh rate for smooth visuals and maintains a sleek 94 per cent screen-to-body ratio.

The Xiaomi 15 Ultra, on the other hand, steps up with a 6.73-inch WQHD+ AMOLED panel and boasts 3,200 nits of peak brightness for outdoor usage. As mentioned above, both devices come with a Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC and are backed with 12GB and 16GB RAM options, along with up to 512GB of storage. The smartphones ship with the brand’s Android 15-based HyperOS 2 and are promised with up to four years of OS upgrades.

Xiaomi 15 comes with a 5,240mAh battery pack, whereas the Ultra variant packs a slightly larger 5,410mAh. The brand states that the devices are also covered with Xiaomi’s Surge Battery Management system. Additionally, both phones offer a 90W wired HyperCharge. However, the Xiaomi 15 gets 50W wireless charging support and the Ultra takes it up a notch with its 80W capability.

Xiaomi 15 Series: Camera and photography

Photography clearly stands out as the highlight of the 15 Series. The standard model sports a triple-camera setup covering 14mm to 120mm focal lengths. This is headlined with a 50MP Leica Summilux main camera with a Light Hunter Fusion 900 sensor.

Additionally, the phone gets a 60mm Leica floating telephoto camera for close-up photography, and a Fastshot Mode to capture moments in only 0.6 seconds.

The Xiaomi 15 Ultra takes mobile photography even further with its 1-inch 50MP Leica Summilux main camera featuring a Sony LYT-900 sensor and 14EV high dynamic range. Its optical zoom capabilities stretch from 14mm ultra-wide to 200mm telephoto, and the brand even claims it can cover virtually ‘every shooting scenario’ a mobile photographer may encounter.

The Xiaomi 15 offers 8K recording at 30fps and Dolby Vision 4K support at 60fps. The Ultra, on the other hand, adds 4K 120fps slow-motion recording and throws in enhanced image stabilisation for smoother footage.

Xiaomi mentions that photography enthusiasts can further enhance their Ultra experience with the optional Photography Kit – Legend Edition, which adds DSLR-like controls including a dedicated shutter button, and ergonomic grip, along with customisable dials.

Moreover, it includes a 67mm filter adapter ring for creative lens effects and packs its own 2,000mAh battery for extended shooting sessions.
