WhatsApp is our daily mode of communication, whether we’re avid texters or not. A lot of our professional and personal chats take place on the platform, and it’s not always easy to go scouring for information every time you need something.
However, the Meta-owned instant messaging smartphone app has gradually begun rolling out updates to make the user experience a comfortable one. In a recent update, WhatsApp has now announced that users can pin up to three messages within a chatbox. Wondering how this works? Here’s what you should know:
How to pin messages in a WhatsApp chat
Users will now be able to pin messages containing texts, media, polls, and even GIFs, within their chatbox. This particular feature would be especially helpful when you’re looking for data such as addresses, phone numbers or passwords.
To pin a particular message, all you have to do is long-press on it and select ‘Pin’. Along with this, you have the option of setting a duration for this message; this can range between 24 hours to a week and even a month. Post this, the messages will automatically unpin themselves.

There’s no way to keep a conversation pinned forever yet, and you may have to revisit the text to extend the duration. Alternatively, you can still Star your message, as it remains to be the only equivalent for pinned messages on the chat right now.
When will this update be available for everyone?
The ability to pin more than one message on a WhatsApp chat was noticed back in December. However, the feature is slowly making its way to both Android and iOS device users. If you still haven’t received it, don’t worry. The platform is gradually rolling the update out and will soon be making it available for more devices in the next few weeks.
