WhatsApp is testing multi-account support for iPhones

WhatsApp is the go-to messaging app for billions globally. Some use it to chat with their friends, while others use it to send updates to their clients or bosses. Some do both by handling two different WhatsApp accounts.

If you are one of those, chances are that you use the WhatsApp Business app to log into your other account. Or, you use two different devices to use both accounts simultaneously.

But guess what, you no longer have to do as WhatsApp is testing multi-account support on mobile, allowing you to add multiple accounts in one app. This feature will let users seamlessly switch between different accounts without having to log out or use two different devices. Here’s everything you need to know about the feature.

You will soon be able to use two accounts on WhatsApp

According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is testing the ability to add multiple accounts in one app. The feature was first spotted on Android and has now arrived in the beta version of iOS. This means that those with iPhones having the beta version of the app can try added multiple accounts on WhatsApp.

There are two ways of adding the second account on WhatsApp: You can either add a fresh account or add a companion account by scanning the QR code. Once the account is added, users can easily switch between different accounts with a few taps.

This is a useful feature as it eliminates the need of using WhatsApp Business just to add that other account. Also, it makes it easier for user to track their chats and organise them in one app. Those with dual-SIM phones can also easily use two accounts in one app.

It’s worth noting that the same feature was spotted on Android a while back, and has now arrived on iOS for iPhones. Although WhatsApp hasn’t confirmed the release date of this feature, expect it to be available sometime later this year.
