Things have been fast heating up in the affordable smartphone segment, with several manufacturers including vivo, Oppo, realme, and even OnePlus and Xiaomi vying for the top spot.
Well, to take on rivals such as the base Redmi Note 5G, vivo has just unveiled its latest addition to its mid-range Y-series of smartphones. Namely, the vivo Y200e 5G. Here’s a list of features to look out for on the device.
Performance and storage
The vivo Y200e 5G is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset for entry-level smartphones and can be had in two configurations – one with 6GB of RAM and 128GB storage, and another with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. The storage, however, is expandable to as much as 1TB, using a microSD card.
Battery
The vivo Y200e packs a fairly large 5,000mAh battery under the hood, and gets support for 44W flash charge technology. This means the phone should last most users for a full day on a single charge, and it doesn’t take too long to charge either, should they happen to run out of juice at any point.
Design, display and audio
The latest smartphone from vivo, the Y200e 5G, gets a fairly large 6.67-inch AMOLED display, with a Full HD+ resolution (2,400×1,800 pixels), a 120Hz refresh rate, and 1,800 nits of peak brightness.
For audio, there is a dual stereo-speaker setup, with audio booster technology. What it does, in essence, is boost the volume of audio files by as much as 300 per cent.
Vivo’s latest smartphone gets an artificial leather back, similar to the higher-end Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G. giving the phone a fairly premium feel. The Y200e 5G, vivo says, also gets a patented anti-stain coating, which ensures the back of the phone never gets dirty – a common niggle users of smartphones with leather backs have had in the past.
In addition to this, the phone also gets an IP54 water and dust resistance rating, meaning it can handle the occasional spills or light splashes of rain with relative ease.
Cameras
The vivo Y200e 5G gets a triple camera setup at the rear – consisting of a 50MP primary sensor, a 2MP bokeh sensor, and a 16MP portrait sensor. On the front, is a 16MP camera for selfies and video calls.

What’s cool is that the smartphone, in addition to the usual portrait and night modes, also gets a Dual-View video feature. What it does is allow users to record videos with both, the front and rear cameras simultaneously, making the phone ideal for vlogging.
There’s also a flicker sensor on the device, which, as the name suggests, minimises flickering in videos in indoor lighting conditions for cleaner images.
Operating System
The vivo Y200e 5G comes running on Android 14-based FunTouchOS 14 straight out of the box. The company states that the device should ensure a seamless user experience for as much as 48 months. This hints that the company could provide as many as four years of updates for the Y200e 5G. Bear in mind, however, that the same hasn’t been confirmed by vivo yet.
Vivo Y200e 5G: Pricing and availability
The Vivo Y200e 5G is available in two colourways – Saffron Delight and Black Diamond. The device is priced at Rs 19,999 for the 6GB variant and Rs 20,999 for the 8GB variant.
