OnePlus 12: Top 5 features worth waiting for

Here are five reasons why you should wait for the OnePlus 12’s global launch

OnePlus 12: Top 5 features worth waiting for

The OnePlus 12 was announced earlier this year and is set to come to India and the rest of the world soon. However, if you’re thinking of picking up the iPhone 15 or the Samsung Galaxy S23 over the upcoming OnePlus 12, you may want to wait. The new OnePlus flagship device is expected to come with multiple new features which are set to boost performance and general usability. Let’s check out the top five features of the phone.

Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3

One of the highlights of the new phone, unsurprisingly, is the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. Succeeding the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, the 8 Gen 3 is as expected, faster and more efficient, but that isn’t all. The new chip is also the first Qualcomm flagship chip to feature support for on-device AI, making AI-related tasks faster and more secure than ever before.

New high-brightness display

The OnePlus 12 comes with a 6.82-inch QHD+ display with and LTPO AMOLED panel that can jump between 1Hz-120Hz, depending on the content on-screen. This panel has a number of good features, but the highlight here is the brightness.

The OnePlus 12 comes with a peak brightness of 4,500 nits, which makes the screen brighter than most other smartphones, and enough for outdoor usage under bright sunlight as well as watching movies full of darker scenes.

A versatile camera setup

The OnePlus 12 also comes with the same camera setup as the OnePlus Open, including a 50MP main camera with OIS, a 64MP periscope camera with OIS and 3x optical zoom support, and a 48MP ultrawide camera. Besides, the camera app also comes with Hasselblad Colour Calibration and can record videos at up to 8K resolutions.

Aquamorphic Design 2.0

Although this is more of an OxygenOS 14 feature than a OnePlus 12 feature, the phone runs OxygenOS 14 right out of the box, along with the brand’s new Aquamorphic Design 2.0 design language. This makes the OnePlus 12 one of the first OnePlus devices to feature the new visual revamp, complete with new colours and animations.

50W wireless charging

Wireless charging is a staple on most flagship phones these days, but there are few phones that do wireless charging at the speeds of wired charging.

The OnePlus 12 features support for up to 50W wireless charging, along with its 100W wired charging support. While these speeds will be limited to proprietary chargers, the OnePlus 12 is a great device for those looking to charge their phones fast without the hassle of wires.

Other features

The OnePlus 12 comes with many more new features that gamers and performance lovers would want to wait for. This includes a USB 3.2 Type-C port, stereo speakers, up to 1 TB fast UFS 4.0 storage, and up to 24GB RAM. The phone is set to launch on January 23 in the global market, and we will likely see an India launch on the same date.

So yes, if you’re planning to buy a new flagship phone, and the above features seem interesting to you, you may want to wait another month out before making a purchase.
