Earlier this year, Samsung announced it is working with Google to launch its first extended reality (XR) headset. Called Project Moohan, the new Samsung XR headset made an appearance at MWC 2025, and it looks just like Apple’s Vision Pro.
The headset runs the Android XR operating system and will get Google’s Gemini features. Here’s everything you need to know.
All you need to know about Samsung's Project Moohan
Samsung didn’t reveal much about the headset at MWC; however, it did let us have a good look at the wearable. The headset features a large screen and is made of premium materials, although Samsung has used plastic in some areas to keep the headset’s weight in check.
The headset is powered by Qualcomm’s XR2+ Gen 2 chipset, which is a chipset designed specially for MR and VR headsets. Notably, this chipset supports on-device AI. It boots on Android XR, which is optimised for XR headsets.
The headset has an automatic Interpupillary distance (IPD) adjustment feature for eye-tracking capabilities. While Samsung didn’t showcase its accessories this time, the headset should be made available alongside controllers to help you navigate. The headset will also support all sorts of gestures.
Lastly, since the headset is made in collaboration with Google, the headset should have Google’s Gemini AI. It’s worth noting that Samsung didn’t let users test its XR headset fully since it’s still a prototype. But we hope to use it sooner or later and pit it against Apple’s Vision Pro.
