Samsung has wrapped up its Unpacked 2025 event, and unsurprisingly we got to see the next-generation Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+ and Galaxy S25 Ultra phones. But that wasn’t all that Samsung had up its sleeves. There was a surprise towards the end, and no it wasn’t a new smart ring or a pair of Galaxy Buds.
Instead, the South Korean brand unveiled a new entrant in its Galaxy S series, dubbed the Galaxy S25 Edge. While the naming scheme is reminiscent of the Galaxy S6 Edge and S7 Edge phones, the new Galaxy S25 Edge is a completely new phone.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is an ultra-slim model we’ve been waiting for, and here’s everything you need to know about it.
What’s special about the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge?
The Galaxy S25 Edge will be a special smartphone. Samsung gave a glimpse of the device at the end of the event, revealing that it’s not only super thin, but also a minimal device compared to the rest of the S25 phones.
The device is just 6.4mm thick – without the camera – making it the thinnest Samsung phone yet. The device boasts a flat display and flat edges, making it easier to grip. Due to its slim form factor, Samsung has added only two cameras on the back, which we believe will be two high-quality sensors.
The smartphone is expected to come with a Snapdragon 8 series chipset, likely the 8 Elite, which is also powering the other S25 models. There are however no details available about the phone’s battery yet. It remains to be if Samsung has compromised on the battery in order to achieve the slim form factor.
If we were to hazard a guess, Samsung could be opting for the new silicon-carbon battery, which allows the cell to store more charge in a smaller profile. New phones like the OnePlus 13 use a silicon-carbon battery instead of a lithium-ion battery, allowing them to pack big capacity cells, while keeping the physical form factor thin.

Apart from the hardware, expect the Galaxy S25 Slim to boot Android 15-based One UI 7 out of the box. The device will also likely get the updated Galaxy AI suite, including Circle to Search for videos and music.
The Galaxy S25 Edge will rival Apple’s upcoming slim phone
Samsung hasn’t released the Galaxy S25 Edge yet, and there’s a reason for that. The device is expected to rival Apple’s much-rumoured slim phone, which is being called the iPhone 17 Air.

So, there’s competition and that’s exactly why we have the Galaxy S25 Edge. Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy S25 Edge sometime later this year, so it can focus better on its features. While we don’t know the pricing of the phone, it is expected to be more affordable than the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
