A closer look at the hardware on the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra teardown video reveals how it beats the heat

It’s been a week since the Samsung Galaxy S24 series debuted. The devices have been making headlines, owing to the on-board Galaxy AI and seven years of software updates and security patches. The phone also comes with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, making it a performance behemoth.

Now, a teardown video of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra has surfaced online showing its internals and how repairable it is. Interestingly, it also shows how the new phone manages heat cleverly.

How does the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra manage heat?

The Galaxy S24 Ultra teardown video by PBKreviews shows that the device has a much larger vapor chamber than its predecessor, the Galaxy S23 Ultra. What this translates to, is the device being able to dissipate higher amounts of heat efficiently, ensuring it remains cool even when being used for demanding tasks such as gaming or video/photo editing.

This is extremely useful, since the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra comes with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip. These chipsets have slightly higher overclocking capabilities as compared to the standard Snapdragon SoCs. There’s also a graphite film over the processor to help transfer heat, along with thermal paste to further help keep things cool under the hood.

Samsung's newest flagship is also easy to repair

The teardown also reveals that the battery comes with pull tabs on it. What these do, is make it easier for a technician to take out the battery of the phone and replace the same, should the need ever arise.

Additionally, the glass plate on the back of the device comes off with no wires or cables attached to it. Below it, the phone’s internal components, including the wireless charging coil, NFC and ultra-wide-band antenna, the earpiece and speaker, and the entire motherboard, are held down using 17 screws.

Aside from this, the fact that Samsung has ditched the curved-screen design for the Galaxy S24 in favour of a flat panel, makes it all the easier to open up and repair.

Bear in mind however, unless you happen to have a fair bit of experience opening up smartphones, as well as the right tools and know-how, we highly recommend you don’t try this yourself at home.

PBKreviews gave the phone a repairability score of 9 out of 10. This suggests that should your S24 Ultra develop an unlikely problem, repairs should be quicker and easier.
