A look at how Samsung’s new flagship fares against the occasional drops and dents

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra drop test video reveals its real-world durability

Samsung debuted its latest flagship series of smartphones – the Galaxy S24 series. The devices offer several goodies, including top-notch specs, on-board Galaxy AI, and some new goodies like Quick Share and Circle to Search.

As is expected around a major launch, a new flagship device is usually treated to teardowns and drop tests. It’s no different with Samsung’s latest phones, especially the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

It is protected by Gorilla Glass on the front as well as the back and is housed in a titanium frame as well, which makes the device stronger and lighter. A drop test video has now surfaced online that reveals just how durable the phone is in real world.

How did the Samsung Galaxy S24 fare in drop tests?

YouTuber PBKreviews conducted a drop test on the Galaxy S24 Ultra, from waist height. The phone was dropped multiple times. In the first instance, the device got a minor crack in the screen, on the top-right corner. In the second, the left corner got scraped, and in the falls after, the titanium frame also developed a few scrapes and scratches in various spots.

However, the damage to the device was mostly cosmetic in nature. No issues were found in the functioning of the device, in any aspect.

What’s more, the display also continued to function as per usual when it fell screen-first, which is what happened in most cases. It didn’t develop any scratches even after being rubbed with gravel, which proves that the device is an extremely sturdy one, for the most part. What’s cool is, in the instances that the phone’s rear took an impact, there was no noticeable damage on it.

Now, while the drop tests prove that the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is a fairly sturdy device, it is best to invest in a protective case for it all the same, such that it remains protected against dents and dings, and damage to its internal components when subjected to greater impacts.

Moreover, this was a drop test conducted on the phone from several different angles, only from waist height. How it fares when dropped from a greater height, remains unknown for now. Either way, we hope you never have to find out either!
