OxygenOS 15 announced with new features for OnePlus phones

Shortly after Google released the Android 15 update for its Pixel phones last week, other smartphone makers have started releasing their own recipe of the new Android update. Today, OnePlus has announced OxygenOS 15, which is based on Android 15, and brings a lot of new AI features to its smartphones.

Here’s everything you need to know about the update, what smartphones it will support, and when you will get it.

OxygenOS 15: What’s new?

OxygenOS 15 will pack all the changes from Android 15 including the theft protection features, along with some new AI features, which can do things like transform low-res images to full resolution or unblur a blurred-out photo. Here are all the new features explained.

AI Detail Boost – a new tool that’s built into the Gallery app, AI Detail Boost will allow you to take low-resolution, cropped pictures and use AI to upscale the image to higher-resolution within seconds.

AI Unblur – As the name suggests, AI Unblur will allow you to take shaky, blurred images and fix them using generative AI.

AI Reflection Eraser – Generative AI is great at removing unwanted reflections off otherwise plain surfaces, and that is exactly what this feature will be able to do, right from the Gallery app.

AI Reply – AI Reply will be a part of the OnePlus Smart Sidebar and can be used in any conversation to contextually understand what is going on and suggest a relevant reply.

Intelligent Search – System-wide on-device searching gets easier with Intelligent Search, which lets you pull out files and other information from across your phone in seconds.

AI Notes – AI Notes will be able to take notes and summarise them in seconds, along with being angle to do stuff like reduce content, adjust the tone and formality, or simply add some more polish.

OxygenOS 15: Other features

OnePlus has also added some new cosmetic changes including new icons, a new boot animation and more fingerprint unlock animations. There is also a new ‘Share with iPhone’ feature that will let OnePlus users share photos and other files directly with iPhone users, likely without using a network connection.

The OnePlus 12 will be the first device to get the update, with an open beta version coming out on October 30, while those on the closed beta will get access to the under-development AI features on the same day. The AI features will roll out to open beta users by the end of November.

No confirmed timeline as to when a stable update can be expected on any of OnePlus’ smartphones was shared, so those waiting for the new update will have to indefinitely wait a bit longer.
