Oppo’s flagship smartphone series made a return to India late last year, and we have been using the latest in the series, called the Find X8 Pro.
As you would expect from a smartphone of this calibre, this Oppo phone comes with top-notch hardware, and runs Android 15. Not to forget, there’s also a haptic-based camera key on the side, which reminds us of the Camera Control button on the iPhone 16 lineup.
With everything on offer, can the Oppo Find X8 Pro standout? Having used the phone for some time now, here’s our Oppo Find X8 Pro long-term review.

Oppo Find X8 Pro design and display
The brand’s phone designs haven’t drastically changed, and the Find X8 Pro looks like a quintessential Oppo phone with its protruded camera island and quad-curved screen. Unlike its predecessors, the phone’s weight doesn’t lean on the upper half, rather it’s much more balanced.
Oppo has opted for an aluminium frame and a glass back, which keeps the weight at 215 grams. This makes it easy to hold in one’s hands, and also happens to be a tad lighter than the Galaxy S25 Ultra and the Vivo X200 Pro.

Both the rear and the front are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i, which isn’t the strongest glass out there but can resist major scratches. We used the device without any screen guard and there wasn’t a single notable scratch on the screen.
Having said that, one thing we did notice was the phone’s tendency to automatically reduce brightness levels when using the camera extensively. This is likely to do with performance, as the device probably lowers the brightness to maintain the thermals.
Other than the power button and the volume keys, the device also has a camera key, which is a haptic-based pressure-sensitive button that turns on the camera. It’s placed lower down on the right side, allowing you to use it as a camera shutter button. There’s also the Alert slider, which is super convenient.
The smartphone’s 6.78-inch AMOLED display is sharp and bright to look at. Even when using it outdoors, the screen was perfectly legible, thanks to its brightness levels, which peak at 4,500 nits for HDR content.
Apart from this, the panel has up to 120Hz variable refresh rate, thanks to the LTPO technology. The screen is super smooth when endlessly scrolling through your Instagram feed or playing games. Even watching OTT content like The Diplomat and Cyberpunk Edgerunners was a great experience on the phone’s rich and vibrant panel.
Oppo Find X8 Pro cameras
Among the clear highlights of this Oppo phone is its camera prowess. The quad-camera setup on the rear includes a 50MP wide sensor, 50MP ultra-wide sensor, and two 50MP periscope telephoto units with 3x and 6x optical zoom support.

The photos captured by all cameras were impressive, with a good amount of detail even when zoomed in. The 3x and 6x shots also looked great. But again, some of the resultant photos tend to be inconsistent, and it is down to the phone’s software. During our testing, we found some photos looking natural, while others looked over or under exposed. One way of getting the perfect photo is to click multiple shots at one go.
Other than this, the phone processes skin tones nicely with the right amount of lighting. The dynamic range is also not too dramatic, making the final images in bright light look natural.

The videography experience was good too. The front camera is decent too, but not as good as the rear cameras.
As mentioned, there’s also a camera key on the right side and it works well. We find it to be better than the iPhone 16’s Camera Control. You can not only grab stills with it but also zoom in and out, making the overall user experience more convenient.
Oppo Find X8 Pro performance
Under the hood is a MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chipset, which is an octa-core SoC based on TSMC’s 3nm fabrication process. It is paired with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.0 internal storage.
What these numbers mean is that the phone will handle anything you throw at it rather easily. In our testing, we faced no hiccups or lags during our day-to-day usage, and gaming was quite enjoyable.

If you indulge in graphically demanding game titles like Genshin Impact and Wuthering Waves, you will be able to enjoy them at their highest possible settings. Yes, the device does get a bit hot if you play for over 40 minutes, but what’s impressive is how performance isn’t affected.
Making sure everything ticks is a 5,910mAh battery with support for 80W wired and 50W wireless charging. During our time with it, the phone’s battery would easily last an entire day, with enough juice to go till noon. Our usage involved scrolling through reels, texting, calls, and a bit of gaming.
When it is time to recharge, the experience is superfast thanks to the 80W SuperVOOC fast charging support. There’s also 50W wireless charging for convenience. Having the latter makes things quite convenient.

The phone boots Android 15-based ColorOS 15 and everything was buttery smooth. The UI comes with a bunch of AI features built-in like the AI Reflection Remover, AI Eraser, AI Studio, and more. All these features work as advertised and add to the overall user experience.
Another thing worth mentioning is the in-display fingerprint scanner. We found it to be accurate, and a quick way to unlock the phone. Another interesting feature is what Oppo calls ‘Touch to Share’. It essentially lets users effortlessly share photos and videos between the Find X8 Pro and any other phone – including an iPhone.
Unboxed Take: Should you buy the Oppo Find X8 Pro in 2025?
There’s a lot to like about the Oppo Find X8 Pro, from its design, display, performance to its versatile cameras. It’s, however, not a perfect phone, and there are a few inconsistencies we couldn’t help but notice during our usage. For all the above reasons, we rate the Oppo Find X8 Pro 4/5.
Priced at Rs 99,999, the phone is by no means cheap. And in this range, it faces competition from the iPhones and the Samsung Galaxies of the world. But one can also consider some slightly affordable flagship devices like the OnePlus 13 and the vanilla Vivo X200, with both offering good cameras and performance.
