If you’ve ever dropped your phone in a puddle and had a mini heart attack, you’re not the only one. Smartphones today have to survive everything from adventurous hikes to clumsy spills. But Oppo just debuted its new F29 5G and F29 Pro 5G, branded as “durable champions”, that are packing impressive specs at a mid-range budget.

Oppo F29, F29 Pro 5G: Key features to look out for

For starters, both smartphones feature a 6.7-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 1,200 nits of peak brightness for outdoor usage. The brand mentions how the smartphones are designed keeping natural minerals in mind, which is reflected in their back panels that mimic a natural rock texture.

Under the hood, the Oppo F29 5G is powered by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipset, whereas the F29 Pro 5G comes equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Energy SoC. Both phones also ship with the Android 15-based ColorOS 15.0.

When it comes to photography, the F29 Pro 5G comes with a 50MP wide-angle camera and a 2MP Monochrome camera on a circular island at the back. It comes with EIS (electronic image stabilisation) and a 16MP front camera. The F29 5G, too, comes with similar camera specifications. Both devices come with Oppo’s Portrait, Night, PRO, Panorama, Slo-mo, Dual-view video, Time-lapse, Sticker, and Hi-Res modes.

The F29 5G is backed by a 6,500mAh battery capacity, whereas the F29 Pro 5G gets a slightly smaller 6,000mAh battery pack. The F29 Pro 5G gets 80W SuperVOOC charging support, whereas the F29 5G comes with 45W SuperVOOC charging instead.

Oppo F29, F29 Pro 5G: Dust and water resistance

The highlight of Oppo’s latest smartphones is undoubtedly the durability. The smartphone makers have equipped the phones with IP69, IP68, and IP66 certifications, and are claimed to have complete protection against dust, water, immersion, and extreme environmental conditions.

According to the brand, the smartphones can also withstand 18 types of liquid spills as well as high-pressure water jets. Oppo has also enhanced the devices with practical features, such as speaker drainage and automatic dust cleaning.

Moreover, the smartphones are built with a 360-degree Armour Body and aerospace-grade aluminium frame. The company reinforced this with a Lens Protection Ring, Sponge Bionic Cushioning, and a Raised Corner Design Cover that significantly reduces impact damage from accidental drops.

Lastly, Oppo mentions how the phones have successfully passed 14 Military Standard MIL-STD-810H-2022 tests, earning them military-grade toughness certification.

Oppo F29, F29 Pro 5G: Price and Availability

The Oppo F29 Pro 5G can be purchased in two colourways: Marble White and Granite Black. The F29 Pro 5G is priced at Rs 27,999, Rs 29,999 and Rs 31,999 for the 8GB + 128GB, 8GB + 256G, and 12GB + 256GB variants, respectively.

The OPPO F29 5G, on the other hand, can be purchased in Solid Purple and Glacier Blue colour options. It will be available in two variants: Rs 23,999 and Rs 25,999 for 8GB+12GB and 8GB+256GB variants, respectively,

The Oppo F29 Pro 5G will be available across the brand’s official website and e-commerce platforms from April 1st. The Oppo F29 5G can be purchased starting March 27.
