One of the biggest changes coming to the upcoming OnePlus Ace 3 Pro smartphone is the new Glacier Battery technology. While the OnePlus Ace 3 Pro itself is likely to be a phone exclusive to the Chinese market, we may see the new battery tech eventually come to other OnePlus smartphones in India.
Here’s everything you need to know about the new tech, including what it is and how the new Glacier battery tech will affect a phone’s life cycle.
What is OnePlus’ Glacier Battery technology?
The OnePlus Glacier Battery technology is a new design term, that will be used for upcoming OnePlus smartphones like the Ace 3 Pro. Batteries developed with the new Glacier tech are said to offer high charging speeds, longer life, and more stable voltage supply.

On the OnePlus Ace Pro, the brand will equip a new 6,100mAh battery using the new Glacier tech. This battery, as per company claims, will be able to charge from one per cent to 100 per cent in as little as 36 minutes (which is impressive considering the large 6,100mAh capacity).
OnePlus also claims that the new tech will allow the battery to be much more sustainable long-term, allowing the phone’s battery to retain over 80 per cent of its capacity over a period of four years.
How will the new Glacier battery tech help you?
The new OnePlus Glacier battery technology will help make future OnePlus smartphones much more sustainable and usable over a period of three to four years (or more).
Today, most smartphones are replaced/upgraded because of poor battery life. As per a 2023 Statista report, 31 per cent users upgrade their phones because of poor battery life.

At a time when brands have also started putting an emphasis on longer software support like the Samsung Galaxy S24 series getting seven years of updates, improvements like the OnePlus Glacier Battery technology will help make sure phones actually function for longer without requiring a battery replacement.
The tech could be a part of upcoming OnePlus phones in India, like the successor to the OnePlus 12, or even the foldable phone that may succeed the OnePlus Open.
