Nothing phones get Nokia’s classic Snake game as a widget

Remember that classic Snake game that we used to play on old Nokia phones? That game is now a widget for the Nothing phones, all thanks to a new community app. The Nothing Community Widgets app is meant to showcase home screen tools and games co-created by its users.

As you’d guess, the first community widget is a recreation of the classic Snake game found on the Nokia 6110, which was launched nearly 26 years ago. Nothing phone users get to enjoy a similar experience with its latest Snake game widget.

What’s the buzz about Nothing’s Snake game widget?

Nothing’s latest community widget is bound to create some buzz as it brings the classic Snake game to its smartphones. As mentioned above, the latest widget is a recreation of the popular Snake game that we all adored.

The best part about the Snake game widget is that it’s actually a widget, meaning you don’t have to open another app to get the snake to slither. You can do that literally anytime by tapping on the widget placed on your phone’s home screen.

Of course, the widget may not be able to replicate the exact experience we had back in the day, thanks to the tactile buttons on the 6110. However, it can easily fuel nostalgia, giving you the much-needed break from your work (at least for a few seconds or minutes).

The recreated Nothing version of the game is simple. It has the Nothing standard dot-matrix style. Tap on the widget to start the game, make directional screen swipes to get the snake to slither, and you are good to go.

Nothing says that the idea of a Snake widget was proposed by Rahul Janardhanan, a fellow Nothing community member. Nothing then got it developed by reaching out to the community developer Thomas Legendre, who previously worked on the Simone Glyph Game.

How to access the Snake game on Nothing phones

So, if you like the idea and own a Nothing smartphone, you can access the widget and play the game right now. Here’s how.

Step 1: Install the app from the Google Play Store.

Step 2: Open the app and search for the ‘Snake Game’ widget in the search bar.

Step 3: Add the widget to the home screen.

It’s worth nothing that this widget is only available for the Nothing OS 2.6. So, if you are running any beta software, like Nothing 3.0 beta, then you won’t be able to access the widget right now.
