Within less than a month of launching the Nothing Phone (3a) series, it has already received a fresh update that adds some key features. The Nothing OS 3.1 update is rolling out for both the Phone (3a) models, and it brings Camera Capture support for the Essential Key.
The feature allows users to quickly snap a photo and save all the essential information in a separate spot called Essential Space. Here’s everything you need to know about the update.
Here’s everything new in Nothing OS 3.1
The Nothing OS 3.1 is the latest update for the Phone (3a) and the Phone (3a) Pro, and it adds Camera Capture feature for the Essential Key. The Essential Key is located on the right side of both the Phone (3a) models, allowing users to quickly jump to the camera app and snap and save information to the Essential Space.
This is not the only camera-centric feature in the latest update. There’s more. The update makes the camera zoom more intuitive and corrects the reddish skin tone issues in front-facing camera selfies.
Further, the white balance for indoor scenes has been enhanced. The portraits now offer better clarity and focusing accuracy has also been improved for 2x focal length. The latter was an issue faced by the Phone (3a) Pro users.

Other than this, Nothing OS 3.1 also improves AOD transition animations and fixes minor bugs. That’s everything the latest Nothing OS 3.1 update brings. But Nothing has also planned some key Essential Space features that will be available later. These include Smart Collections, Focused Search, and Flip to Record.
How to update to Nothing OS 3.1
Nothing says that the update is rolling out gradually to all Nothing Phone (3a) series owners globally, including India. This is an OTA update so you should receive an update notification. However, if you don’t, you can always update manually by heading to Settings > System > System Updates.
