When Nothing launched the Nothing Phone (2) last year, fans had mixed reactions to the new Glyph Interface lights, which looked eerily similar to the Phone (1). While this did help Nothing establish their signature design in the market, it also left fans asking for more variety.
Now, ahead of Nothing’s third smartphone hitting the market, it seems the brand is trying its hand at a new design. The theme appears to be minimalism, and the canvas is the upcoming Nothing Phone (2a). Here’s all we know.
Nothing Phone (2a) design leaked
A new leak by Slashleaks via X tipster Mukul Sharma (@Stufflistings) shows what looks like the new Nothing Phone (2a) in a strange new design. While the front of the phone looks quite similar to the Phone (2), complete with Nothing’s three-part colour scheme, it’s the back where things get interesting.

While covered by what looks like a protective shell, the back panel reveals a centre-aligned camera module, with no room for glyph lights. While this doesn’t exactly mean there will be no lights on the Phone (2a), it does mean that even with lights, Nothing, will have to implement a new design thanks to the camera island’s new position.
Further, a comment by another X user on the post reveals what looks like yet another leaked marketing image of the device. This new image shows the phone in a white avatar with a more subtle implementation of the Glyph lights around the camera module.
The new design may not have as many lights as the brand’s previous smartphones, but this could mean more R&D and money probably went into the specifications and other key areas of the phone. Nothing did promise a more powerful phone than the Nothing Phone (1) after all.
