Nothing has been quick at rolling out the latest Android 15-based Nothing OS 3.0 update for its devices. The Nothing Phone (2a) series and the Phone (2) were two of the first devices to get the update a few weeks back. Now, Nothing has rolled out this update for the original Nothing phone, the Nothing Phone (1).
In addition to the Phone (1), the budget-friendly CMF Phone (1) has also received the Nothing OS 3.0 update. The update brings UI redesign, software improvements, and AI features.
Here’s everything new you can expect on your Nothing Phone (1)
The Android 15-based Nothing OS 3.0 skin is largely the same for most Nothing phones. However, since the Nothing Phone (1) is the brand’s first and the oldest smartphone, the update gives the device a fresh feel, upping the user experience.
Starting with the UI redesign, the update introduces a new lock screen customisation page. Users can customise their lock screen better after this update. Customisation features for the lock screen include new clock face styles and the expanded widget space.
The update also brings a redesigned quick settings panel, allowing users to tailor their shortcuts to their preferences. The widget library for the home screen as well has been redesign. With the redesign, users can easily choose between Nothing’s first-party widgets and third-party widgets.
Furthermore, connectivity options like Bluetooth and Internet now display current connections. There’s also a new Dot animation for fingerprint unlocking and charging, adding to the UI’s design aesthetics.

Apart from this, Nothing has also introduced Shared Widgets and a new app drawer style that’s powered by AI. The latter automatically categories your apps into folders, keeping your app drawer more organised.
That’s everything major coming to your Nothing Phone (1) with this update. You can read the entire changelog here. Other than the Nothing Phone (1), the CMF Phone 1 has also received the same update, and it also brings similar features.
Since this is an OTA update, you should receive an update notification on your device. But if you don’t, you can always update manually by heading to Settings > System and following on-screen instructions to download and install the update.
