Nothing has been launching products left and right across segments, but a lot of the brand’s efforts also go into the software that powers devices like the Nothing Phone (2a). Since the brand revamped its own Android skin with Nothing OS 2.0 last year, only smaller updates have been added to Nothing OS. That is set to change soon.
Nothing OS 3.0: What we know so far
Nothing has already started to tease some of its upcoming features in the past few weeks. This includes both the brand’s advancements in AI features, as well as new customisation features. The only question that remains is – when will Nothing OS 3.0 get a release?

As per a series of posts on X (previously Twitter), Nothing will begin the rollout of Nothing OS 3.0 in September this year. It’s still not clear if all Nothing smartphones will get the update at once, or if the brand will follow a phased rollout.
Many other details are currently unknown about the update, but we do know that Nothing OS 3.0 will come with a number of new lock screen customisation options, including the ability to add multiple widgets and change the corner shortcuts on the bottom.
What about the CMF Phone?
Nothing OS has so far powered Nothing Phone (1), the Nothing Phone (2) and the Nothing Phone (2a). However, we don’t know if the software will also power upcoming smartphones by Nothing sub-brand CMF, which is soon expected to launch its first smartphone.
The CMF Phone will reportedly not have some key aspects of the Nothing phones, like the Glyph Interface, so even if we do have Nothing OS powering the phone, it may just be a watered-down, closer-to-stock version of the operating system.
Of course, that’s just speculation on our part for now, and we will just have to wait a few months for all the officially available information on Nothing OS.
