AI is the hot new buzzword nowadays, and with technology coming very close to matching our imagination, it has also found its way into new-age movies and series plotlines.
In fact, a few movies as well as series released in 2024 have captured both the best and worst-case scenarios of having AI within our day-to-day lives in the future. Even moviemakers are not afraid to show the most grotesque version on screen and are keeping it very close to reality. And while they’re currently only fiction, they may just turn into reality owing to the fast-paced developments today. Here are some movies and series that featured AI in 2024.

1. Atlas
In the year 2043, humanoid artificial intelligence terrorist Harlan leads a war against humans leaving three million people dead. Atlas Shepherd, a brilliant data analyst with a deep distrust of AI, joins a mission to capture a renegade robot with whom she shares a mysterious past. However, when the plan goes awry, her only hope to save humanity from AI is to trust it.
Atlas starring Jennifer Lopez in the titular role is available to stream on Netflix.
2. Subservience
When his wife becomes sick, a struggling father purchases a lifelike AI gynoid named Alice to help with his housework and family. Things take a dark turn when Alice becomes self-aware and wants everything for herself, including the affection of her owner.

Subservience features Megan Fox as Alice. The movie can be streamed on Prime Video and Netflix.
3. Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya
What happens when a robotics engineer falls for a robot? But that’s not all! He falls for her deeply and even wants to introduce her to his family and marry her.
Aryan, a robotics engineer, visits his aunt in the US where he meets her assistant, Sifra. She has been fed with all relevant information about him. With machine learning and other features, she keeps knowing more about him on the go and makes sure he is well taken care of. He gradually falls for her not knowing the truth.
Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya is an impossible love story starring Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon in the lead; You can watch the flick on Prime Video.
4. CTRL
Nella and Joe are the perfect influencer couple. When Nella finds out that he cheated on her, she turns to an AI app to erase him from her life digitally. However, her life quickly takes a dark turn when she realises that he has disappeared in real life as well.
Featuring Ananya Panday and Vihaan Samrat in prominent roles, CTRL is currently streaming on Netflix.
5. AfrAId
Curtis and his family are selected to test a revolutionary new device, a digital assistant called AIA. Known to take smart homes to the next level, AIA starts learning everyone’s behaviour and begins to anticipate their needs. It soon begins to make sure that nothing and no one gets in the family’s way.
AfrAId is available on various OTT platforms like Netflix, Prime Video and Apple TV+.
6. 3 Body Problem
This new sci-fi series follows the life of a Chinese astrophysicist in the 1960s who makes a decision that has consequences for humanity across time and space. Based on a book of the same name, the story explores themes like technology, progress, destruction, scientific discovery, and political division.
Renewed for another season, 3 Body Problem can be streamed exclusively on Netflix.
7. IRaH
Hari Singh has designed a revolutionary app called the IraH 5.10. He winds up in trouble when everyone wants a piece of his new app including kidnappers, police, cybersecurity agencies and hackers from all around the world. What will Hari do? IraH is an Indian film that can be enjoyed on Prime Video.
These are some movies and series released in 2024 that have incorporated AI within their plotline, and with time, we’re sure we can expect more titles weaving dystopian, futuristic tech within their storylines. Are we considering ourselves warned or is it simply ‘entertainment’? Only time can tell!
