With DeepSeek’s entry into the market, several AI giants have rushed to loosen the grip on their services, making them available more freely for everyone. Among these, Microsoft, too, announced its decision to make two of its premium Copilot features available to just about everyone.
The company recently announced that Copilot’s Voice feature and Think Deeper capability are now accessible without their usual subscription fees. For those wondering what this means, read on.
Microsoft Copilot Voice, Think Deeper: Noteworthy features
Like ChatGPT’s Advanced Voice Mode or Gemini, Copilot Voice lets you have a human-like conversation with the AI bot. Users can even interrupt the chatbot to probe further or ask more questions before it finishes replying. The Think Deeper feature, on the other hand, takes time to respond to your queries to give you advanced reasonings. This feature is powered by OpenAI’s o1 model and usually takes some time to process questions before responding.

On its blog, Microsoft mentioned how it initially founded Copilot to help users ‘access knowledge and answers’, apart from ‘reflecting’ as well as ‘brainstorming’. The decision to extend its features to more people was a part of Microsoft’s goal to make AI accessible to more people. Both Think Deeper and Copilot Voice were available to users at a limit; however, with this move, users will be able to make the most of it without restrictions.
What does this mean for Copilot Pro users?
If you’re a Copilot Pro user wondering if your subscription holds any value, Microsoft mentions that users enrolled in the premium tier will still get preferred access to the latest models during peak usage hours.
Apart from that, it also ensures early access to experimental AI features that seem to be in the pipeline for the company. Lastly, Copilot Pro users will also be able to enjoy additional AI usage across Microsoft 365 apps, such as Word, Excel, as well as PowerPoint.
This move aligns with recent decisions by OpenAI and Google to make their premium AI tiers free. Interestingly, this movement also suggests increasing competition in the AI assistant market as companies work to attract and retain users.
